Proud Partners Group Program

About the group:

Proud Partners is an online 10-week, program for any LGBTQ+ person who lives in NSW and may be concerned about their behaviours in a relationship, such as a lack of respect, controlling behaviours or aggression and violence.

The group provides a safe and respectful environment for LGBTQ+ community members of all genders to share their experiences, understand factors that contribute to healthy and unhealthy relationship patterns and to discover and share ways you can make positive changes to your behaviour and relationships. The aim of this program is to help ensure the safety of the people you love.

The strength of the group lies in group participation, so we ask that all participants commit to the full 10-week program.

Who are these groups for?

These groups are open to anyone who identifies as LGBTQ+. The groups are open to people of all genders. Trans people of all genders are welcome and encouraged to join.

You must be over 18 years old to participate.

You must be living in NSW.

Who is involved with the group?

ACON is working in partnership with the Men and Family Centre, specifically the lovely team who run ARC Gender Relations project. The ARC team works from a primary prevention perspective to challenge underlying attitudes, beliefs and social systems that enable violence. Two experienced LGBTQ+ facilitators will run the group.

Where and when will these groups be held?

Groups will be held every Monday night from 14 October until 16 December 2024 at 6:00pm – 7:30pm via the digital platform Zoom. This group is only available for NSW based people.

Safety and Confidentiality

Your safety is our biggest priority. We understand that taking part in this kind of support can create feelings of vulnerability and raise concerns about confidentiality and safety in small communities. We speak with everyone interested in the group about these concerns to make sure this will be an appropriate and safe space for them.

If you would like to speak about any of these issues prior to registering your interest, you can email Jade from ACON at healthyrelationships@acon.org.au

How do I register?

Please fill in the below expression of interest form. ACON will then contact you via email to confirm we have received your form. ACON will share your expression of interest with the two group facilitators, who will then contact you by phone to talk about the program and your readiness for the group.

If you have any questions about the group that you’d like to ask before completing the expression of interest, you can email Jade from ACON at healthyrelationships@acon.org.au
