AVOs and LGBTIQ+ Communities

With the support of the City of Sydney, ICLC has produced a video on the area of law that greatly impacts on LGBTIQ+ communities in New South Wales.

At the ICLC we receive many calls from people who have questions about AVOs. The information in this video is relevant for NSW This video sets out:

    • What an AVO is;
    • How to get one;
    • What to do if you are an LGBTIQ+ person and you are having trouble getting help, or have had a bad experience with police;
    • Options for persons named as a defendant on an AVO application;
    • Common myths about AVOs.

You can also find a number of helpful phone numbers at the end of the video!

The videos are available with subtitles in Korean (한국어), Indonesian (Bahasa Indonesia) and Thai (ภาษาไทย).
