Healthy LGBTQ+ Relationships Workshops

About the workshop:

This is a 4-week, NSW based program for any LGBTQ+ person who wants to learn about healthy relationships.

The workshop provides a safe and respectful environment for LGBTQ+ community members of all genders to share their experiences, understand factors that contribute to healthy relationships and learn new skills to create healthier relationships with their loved ones.

The strength of the workshop lies in group participation, so we ask that all participants commit to the full program of one workshop per week, for four weeks.

  • Week 1: Respect and Values
  • Week 2: Communication and Boundary Setting
  • Week 3: Sex and Consent
  • Week 4: Conflict Resolution

Who are these workshops for?

These workshops are open to anyone aged 18+ who identifies as LGBTQ and wants to improve their existing, or future, relationships! They are open to people of all genders and sexualities. Trans people of all genders are welcome and encouraged to join.  This workshop series is not designed for partner/s to attend together.

You do not need to currently be in a relationship to participate.

Who is involved with the workshops?

ACON’s LGBTQ+ Women’s Health Programs and Sexual, Domestic and Family Violence team co-designed these workshops with community.

Two experienced LGBTQ+ peer to peer facilitators will run the workshops, both volunteers from ACON.

Where and when will these workshops be held?

There will be 3 iterations of this workshop.

  1. Sydney (completed).
  2. Newcastle (group is currently running)
  3. Western Sydney:  Will run on 7, 14, 21, and 28 March at 6:15pm – 8:45pm

Safety and Confidentiality

Your safety is our biggest priority. We understand that taking part in this kind of workshop may create feelings of vulnerability, or raise concerns about confidentiality and safety in small communities. We speak with everyone interested in the workshops about these concerns to make sure this will be an appropriate and safe space for them.

If you would like to speak about any of these issues prior to registering your interest, you can email Jade from ACON at healthyrelationships@acon.org.au

How do I register?

Please fill in the below expression of interest form. ACON will then contact you by phone to talk about the program and your readiness for the workshops.

If you have any questions that you’d like to ask before completing the expression of interest, you can email Jade from ACON at healthyrelationships@acon.org.au
