DDNA x Deakin Pride Mid-trimester Celebration- VIC

Congratulate yourself on making it half way though T1 with Deakin Pride and Deakin Disability and Neurodivergency Association at Beans Bar, Melbourne's premier lesbian, trans, non-binary & neurodivergent bar! One drink ticket is included, as well as some food, and a cash bar is available. Our event runs from 6pm to 8pm, but Beans is open till late. PLEASE DO NOT COME IF YOU HAVE ANY SYMPTOMS OF COVID-19, WE HAVE IMMUNOCOMPROMISED MEMBERS. We recommend wearing a mask to protect yourself. Please also avoid strong perfumes to create a sensory-safe environment for our members. Mental health and sensory support is available from our sober monitors, who will be wearing rainbow Deakin lanyards. This event is 18+ only. Deakin Pride and DDNA promote the responsible consumption of alcohol. What can I use my drink voucher on? Beer, wine and spirits (no cocktails) are available for redemption via your drink voucher, if you have any questions please ask our lovely bartender! Do I have to be a club member to attend? No, although discounted tickets are available for members of Deakin Pride and DDNA. Are tickets available at the door? We anticipate the event will sell out as numbers are capped low to keep a sensory-safe space, but not sold out, there will be limited door tickets available to purchase via card. Can I smoke at Beans? There is no smoking in the venue or courtyard, but you can smoke in the seating along the footpath. I don't drink alcohol or have dietary requirements, can I still come along? All food at Beans is vegan, and there are plenty of non-alcoholic beverage options! I'm straight and/or neurotypical. Am I welcome? Yes, but please remember that Beans is a safe space for those who are marginalised, and to be respectful of this. How do I get to Beans? The 86 tram stops right out the front (Johnston/Smith St), or a 10-minute walk from the 11. While the 86 is low floor trams, this is not an accessible stop. The nearest train station is Victoria Park, although this has a steep ramp (15-minute walk down Johnston St or a 5-minute bus ride, 200/207). Limited street parking is available. Is Beans wheelchair accessible? There is a single step to enter Beans, but a ramp is kept next to the door. While the venue is accessible, there is no wheelchair-accessible bathroom. How is Beans neurodivergent friendly? Sensory toys, low music, low lighting, and simple sensory-friendly food. If you have any accommodations that will allow you to join us more easily, please let us know upon booking and we will do our best to support this.
